In all of my travels across China, in the big cities and in the small cities, I have never seen graffiti. Sometimes I've seen people cleaning tags off of windows and walls. It was a complete surprise when this creation showed up on a wall. Even more surprising was how it hasn't been painted over or torn down. It's been up for about half a year now. Recently walking past this wall two new all covering pieces of graffiti work have shown up.I wonder what Chinese people think about these colorful additions to the main street of downtown.

Wow! that is unusual indeed! My students see photos of NYC and Paris graffiti in my apartment and they say "what is that?" "is it art?" "is it legal?" Document before it goes away indeed....
